Put up an away message and talk at the same time. Put up an away message and talk at the same time.
1. Open Edit Preferences.
2. Go to the Away Message tab.
3. Select an away message you want people to see.
4. Hit 'I'm away' in the away tab window, then hit enter to close the away message.
5. Rotate this cycle very fast and the away message should stick.
6. Now you can exit the preference menu and you will be away on all your buddy's lists. Your away message will show in your profile, but not when a person IMs you.
